Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Phone number. Used as your unique identifier. We never sell or share your phone number with third parties for marketing.
• Display handle. A short nickname you choose, shown to other members of your group on shared library views.
• Recommendations.Titles you tell us you've watched, your ratings, optional comments, and where you watched.
• Taste preferences.Free-text vibe description, favorite genres and languages, streaming services you have, titles you marked as “no-nos.”
• Messages. A full log of inbound and outbound messages between you and our WhatsApp bot, kept for service quality and troubleshooting.
• Cookies. A long-lived authentication cookie (mr_viewer) that keeps you signed in for up to one year. A short-lived mr_login_session cookie set during login and cleared on success. An mr_admin cookie if you sign in as an administrator.
• IP addresses and standard server logs captured by our hosting provider for security and operational purposes.

How we use it

• To provide the service — answer your recommendation requests, render your library, send verification codes, deliver bot replies.
• To train our recommender — your ratings and pairwise comparisons feed an internal model that personalizes future recommendations.
• To send transactional messages — one-time verification codes when you sign in. We do not send marketing messages.
• To troubleshoot and improve the service.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers that make MovieRex work. None of them are permitted to use your data for their own marketing.

• Anthropic processes message content to power the AI bot.
• The Movie Database (TMDB) is queried for title metadata. No personal data is shared with TMDB.
• Twilio delivers WhatsApp and SMS messages.
• Vercel hosts the application.
• Neon hosts the database.
• Resend sends transactional emails (waitlist approvals).

We do not sell your personal data. We never share your phone number for marketing.

SMS and WhatsApp

You may receive WhatsApp or SMS messages from MovieRex for two purposes:

• One-time verification codes when you sign in to the website.
• Bot replies if you choose to chat with the MovieRex bot directly.

Message frequency varies based on your activity. Message and data rates may apply, charged by your carrier. We do not charge you for messages.

To stop receiving messages, reply STOP to any message from us. Reply HELP for assistance. You can also contact us at support@datanautix.com.

Cookies

We use first-party cookies only. No third-party tracking cookies. See the “Cookies” bullet under “What we collect” for the list and purpose of each.

Data retention and deletion

Data is retained for the lifetime of your account. You can request deletion by emailing privacy@datanautix.com or asking your group administrator. Deletion is completed within 30 days of request.

Children

MovieRex is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Geography

MovieRex is operated from the United States and intended for use in the United States. By using the service you consent to your data being processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page; the “Last updated” date always reflects the latest revision.
